Tour De Pulau Langkawi

Our bike turned up on the dot of 8am this morning and we were straight off hunting and gathering breakfast before heading off along the coast towards the cable car.  Its a great little bike but you have to wear those stupid helmets over here and everyone knows that I don’t have a helmet shaped head.  It just wont go down, preferring to sit on top wobbling about in the wind.
the road took us along the coast and past a great long bridge that we can see from our room but no idea where it goes to.  We past a little marina and the well advertised “Laguna” where you can purchase a badly built apartment in the middle of nowhere.  The road takes you through lots of jungle and we had to stop for a herd of water buffalos and a troop of monkeys.  I didn't manage to get a picture of them but we saw more once we were walking up to the waterfall.  Two were grooming but we missed the baby ones when a really load explosion frightened them away.
Unfortunately, the cable car was not running today as it was down for maintenance.  There are some nice oriental gardens to walk through and we bought an ice cream.  We also spotted a large centipede.
We headed back to Cenang beach where we are staying for lunch.  We had crab and sweetcorn soup followed by duck in Malaysian sauce, chicken in Malaysian red curry, rice and vegetables.  I ordered bean sprouts and hybrid peas but got bean sprouts with a cross between lettuce and cabbage.  Not bad, but the red curry was spoilt a little by the addition of Indian spices.
Although Lanta has 95% muslims the feel there seems more relaxed than here.  Its like the majority in Lanta have chinese decent but the majority here have Indian decent.  The food is not one or the other but a mixture between them.  Its been very hot and humid here today but we have had the odd sunshine poking through and no rain.  Its just really misty from the humidity.
We have booked an island hopping tour tomorrow starting at 9am for 4 hours.  We are not expecting much as its only £5 each.  We both feel very tired today, I think its the humidity that takes it out of you.  Our room is the closest to the beach so I’m going to have a quick dip when I have finished this to try and wake myself up a bit.  I guess that we will be back to Claire's favorite bug Yellow bar for happy hour after that.  After all, its Wednesday night tonight; have one for me boys.

I went in for a quick dip; did you miss me?  Its a lovely little bay here and its as close as you can get to a private beach.  You have to walk through this hotel grounds to get to it as there is no way along the beach to it.  Its a really nice white coral sand beach with lots of shells lining the shore as so few people us it.  There is also lots of mica discs lying around everywhere.

We went down to Claire’s favorite Yellow bar for Happy Hour and its closed on Wednesday’s.  How crazy is that?  The best night of the week.  Anyway, it gave us a chance to try other places and we found a big duty free shop near Waterworld.  Mad, we got a 5 liter box of red Australian wine for £10.  We will have to revisit this again before we fly off to Penang.  Its surprising how few bars there are here; plenty of restaurants and hotels etc but hardly any bars.  We ended up going to a posh hotel called Meritus for a drink.  Very posh and expensive but worth a look.  We decided whilst in there to have a light dinner at the chinese but spotted that the Irish bar called Debbie’s was open for the first time.  Perfect for a Wednesday night and a change from local food.  If your ever over here and fancy a change, you have to try their cheese burger.  They also sell draught Guinness.  Bed now, we are island hopping in the morning.
