Last Stop Kuala Lumpur

As you all know neither of us are big on cities but we are back in the Malaysian Capital for our last two days.  As usual we were at the airport with plenty of time to spare and its a bit of a dump at Sandakan airport.  Air Asia really are quite prompt, all our flights have taken off within 10 minutes of the schedule time and all have arrived on time.  Just a few lines today as we haven’t done much and I seem to be coming down with something.

We arrived to grey skies and rain, took the Skybus to central KL station as its only 9 Ringo’s and it goes the same way as a taxi would anyway and travels at about the same speed so it reduces your bill substantially.  You just pick up one of the many taxis outside the station to your destination.  We arrived at Somerset Ampang which are serviced apartments.  This is the first place that I have booked and when I found this place on the internet I could get a studio for 215 Ringitts but Claire wanted to check it out with reviews first.  Suitably check, she liked it better than the ones that she had on her list so I went back to book it and all the rooms had gone.  Luckily Claire was still in booking.com and we booked it in there for 315 Ringitts a night.  While in KL I fancied a bit of luxury for our last stop in bad weather.  Claire booked it and I printed the confirmation out at reception.  When we arrived, as I suspected, they didn’t have our booking or any studio apartments so they upgraded us to a lovely place.

The bedroom has a flat screen tv and walk in dressing room.  The bathroom is great with a huge window overlooking the city and perverts with binoculars.  It also has a shower in front of it.

We have our own kitchen with washing machine and fridge freezer and loads of cupboards and utensils etc.
We even have a small study with more wardrobes in.  A lounge dinner joined onto the kitchen with an even bigger flat screen tv, dvd player, audio system and wifi.

One last look at that bath tub.  They even have an infinity swimming pool and spa on the top floor but I doubt that we will have the time or weather to try it out.  I suppose it doesn’t matter if its raining when you are in the pool.

We dumped our stuff off and headed into town for lunch and supplies.  We tried the chinese place that Tom and Youngja took us to but it was a different menu at lunchtime and the food was cold.  Still, it was still cheap and tasty.  Best thing was, we found a chinese supermarket next door with red wine at £4 a bottle and 7% lager at £1.15 for a large can called "Traditional".  I never did like that Tiger anyway (StT)!  We are on the same street as the twin towers but a taxi into town is about £3 but on the way back we spotted the monorail station across the road from our place.

Tomorrow, we need to go up the towers and find the software shop that Tom has recommended so that we will be sorted to go out with them both in the evening before catching our early flight home.

  1. That building in you can see out of the view of the bathroom is Youngja's work.
