Lead me not into temptation!

Its true we had a lovely Christmas, a great boxing day, lots of R&R before new year and a fabulous new year BUT I'm glad it's all coming to an end. I can't wait to get back to normal. I am happy if I don't see another mince pie, sausage roll, satsuma or chocolate ever again. We don't do Christmas decorations in our house, all bar the contemporary twig tree which is staying put, so there hasn't been anything to take down. There are still chocolates lying around which lead Phil into temptation so I will probably give these away to friends because for Phil the DIET really does start TOMORROW. Are you listening to that Phil?? It's going to be a little difficult staying strict in Tenerife next week but we have a kitchenette so are going to be able to self cater which should make life a little easier and a little cheaper.

Whilst I am a bit of a bar humbug at Christmas, Harriet is quite the reverse, this year she has partied hard.  She's been to pubs, clubs, bars, house parties and had nights out with the girls.  In fact since she got back from Jersey I don't think she's stayed home one single night.  In fact a couple of nights she hasn't even made it home.   Harriet said that her night out at Revolution was one of the best New Years Eve's she's ever had.  She's also shopped till she dropped and I don't suppose she has money left in her bank.  I say Go Girl, you're only young once and you may as well do it while you can.

New Years Day was a duvet day, another day lost at sea but yesterday we did venture out of the house. I went to the gym in the morning and when I got back we went out for lunch. This was a bit of a last minute thing and we were undecided where to go but in the end we ended up at the Thai Papaya in Oxley Park. We've had some great meals here in the past but I'm not sure if its changed hands or whether there has been a change of chef but our meal yesterday wasn't so great. Phil said it was the worst Thai meal he'd ever had but it wasn't that gross; it's just both our starters and mains were very spicey (and we like spice) and tasted very plasticy and were all meat with hardly any vedgetables. Added to which it was very cold in the restaurant and being the only guests it was certainly lacking in ambience. Shame realy.

After lunch we stopped off at PC World to buy me an external pink DVD/writer for my new laptop. The reason for buying this is so that I can download software and also so we can watch DVDs whilst we're on holiday. Phil wanted to have a browse round but I desparately needed the loo so we hopped in the car and made our way to Cineworld. The place was packed and we were lucky to get parked. I guess every man and his dog were out doing last minute shopping before the VAT goes up tomorrow. Makes sense and I too will be out this afternoon to see if I can pick up some bargains in the sale. The film we opted to see at the cinema was 'No Way Back' an inspiring story of survival against all odds. It was very good and certainly gave us cause for thought, we don't realise how lucky we are in the way we live these days.

Steve bless him, send me a text yesterday to say that he found my camera in the back of his car so that's good news. Phil wanted to work on his book this morning so I left him typing away and took myself off to the gym and then afterwards I drove to Olney to collect my camera from Steve. For lack of any other photographs I am posting my new year's eve pics which are much than those (in my opinion) that Phil took on his new iPhone.

The rest of the night was a bit of a blur!
